Within hours after Inglewood police asked for public help Monday to find a missing autistic 9-year-old boy, his body was found in a park swimming pool, authorities said Monday.
Zavire Portis, who could not speak, last was seen about 3:55 p.m. at Vincent Park, 700 E. Warren Lane in Inglewood, police said.
Police said the mother told them she pulled the car over at the park to get a drink of water and when she returned the boy was gone, media reports said.
Two siblings in the car were also special needs children and couldn’t provide information to investigators.
Police used a helicopter and bloodhound to search the area to no avail until they received a report that the boy’s body was found about 9:50 p.m. in a pool at Vincent Park, reports said.
