Indio police are planning to step up their presence on the roads Saturday evening to crackdown on drunken and drug-impaired drivers.
The campaign is set to occur between 7 p.m. and midnight Sunday.
“DUI saturation patrols will take place in areas with high frequencies of DUI collisions and/or arrests. In 2017, 1,120 people were killed in alcohol-involved crashes on California roads,” according to the Indio Police Department.
Funding for the operation was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
