A pedestrian struck and killed in Hollywood by a motorist who fled the scene was homeless, authorities said Sunday.

Richard Earl Debose was 29 years old, coroner’s Lt. Nani Cholakians said.

He was injured about 3 a.m. Friday at Highland and Willoughby avenues and died at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The victim now identified as Debose was hit by a white late-model Mercedes C300 or similar vehicle that was northbound on Highland Avenue. No description was available of the motorist.

A standing reward of up to $50,000 is available from the city of Los Angeles for information that helps police solve a fatal hit-and-run.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call police at 213-473-0234 or 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
