The coroner Sunday released the name of a man shot to death a few blocks northwest of the Staples Center.
He was Aaron Scott, 24, coroner’s Lt. Nani Cholakians said. Scott’s city of residence was not available.
It was reported at 9:47 p.m. October 12 at James M. Wood Boulevard and Francisco Street, Officer F. Gonzalez in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Operations Center said.
The victim now identified as Scott was sitting in a car when he was approached by two suspects described as men in their 20s, Gonzalez said. One suspect fired multiple rounds at the victim before both suspects ran to a vehicle and fled.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, he said. It was not known whether the homicide was gang-related, Gonzalez said.
