A shooting threat at Cal State Los Angeles prompted the evacuation of the school’s computer lab, but it was later deemed not credible, authorities said Wednesday morning.
A caller phoned the Annex Link computer lab, located in Simpson Tower, just after 5 p.m. Tuesday and said he would come and shoot inside the building unless it was evacuated, according to a statement from the Cal State L.A. Department of Public Safety.
“Out of an abundance of caution, the building was cleared,” the statement said.
Police investigated the incident and determined there was no credible threat.
The Annex Link is available to students 24 hours a day, seven days a week, except during semester breaks and intersession or university holidays.
“Students can meet up with their study groups to work on projects in the smart room or group study room, use computers, and access printing and copier services at any time, day or night,” according to a description of the lab on the school’s web site.
Anyone with information about this threat was asked to call campus police at 323-343-3700.
