Suspects in a stolen SUV drove through a Santa Ana intersection and collided with another vehicle before hitting a utility pole, authorities said Tuesday.

The crash happened just after 11 p.m. Monday at Flower Street and Warner Avenue, Santa Ana police Sgt. L. Barragan said.

The suspects were in a vehicle stolen from Covina but not yet reported stolen, Barragan said. The driver attempted to flee the scene.

Both the driver of the stolen vehicle and the vehicle it struck were taken to hospitals with injuries not believed life threatening, he said.

Three passengers in the stolen vehicle were not injured, Barragan said.

The intersection was shut down while Edison workers repaired the utility pole, he said.

A news videographer at the scene described the stolen vehicle as a Chevrolet Suburban.
