Two Texas men were charged Tuesday with murder in connection with a Tarzana armed robbery that resulted in the shooting death of a 24-year-old Indianapolis man.
Jeancarlos De La Rosa was shot about 10:40 p.m. Sept. 21 along the 18200 block of Sugarman Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. He died the following day in a hospital.
He was the father of a 2-year-old son and a newborn daughter, according to an obituary.
De La Rosa was in Los Angeles to celebrate a birthday and was part of a group renting an Airbnb listing, according to media reports.
The friends had just arrived at the rental location when they were approached by three men who tried to rob them, police said.
Undercover detectives located the suspects just north of the Ventura (134) Freeway on Thursday and arrested two men, NBC4 reported.
Houston residents Allen Asenuga, 24, and Michael Agboola, 28, are both facing one murder charge and two robbery charges. Asenuga is also facing a special circumstance allegation of committing a murder during the course of a robbery, according to court documents.
Bail was set at $2 million for both men, according to sheriff’s inmate records.
Asenuga could face the death penalty if convicted, while Agboola faces a potential life sentence in state prison, prosecutors said.
Arraignment is set for Wednesday in downtown Los Angeles.
