Culver City police Wednesday released video of a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian dead.

The crash occurred around 1:45 a.m. Nov. 3 at Washington Place west of Frances Avenue. The vehicle was described as a black, newer model Toyota Corolla that sustained windshield, hood and dashboard damage in the collision, police said.

There didn’t seem to be any “extreme” circumstances involved, such as a high rate of speed, police said.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Culver City Fire Department. His name was not released. The death was the first of a pedestrian in a hit-and-run crash in Culver City in 2019, Culver City Police Department Sgt. Solve Loken said.

“We had no witnesses that came forward,” Loken said. “The ideal situation would be the suspect coming forward and identifying him or herself. We’re … hoping to be able to close this case out with who was involved, so that the family will have some closure.”

Police are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact Detective Kyle Houck at 310-253-6254, Loken at 310-253-6260 or the watch commander at 310-253-6202.
