A 44-year-old bicyclist who was struck and killed in Van Nuys has been identified, authorities said Tuesday.
Fabian Abarca of North Hills was fatally struck by a vehicle about 6 p.m. Nov. 7 at Kester Avenue and Victory Boulevard, according to the corner’s office and investigator Robert Powers of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Valley Traffic Division.
Abarca had been traveling eastbound on the bicycle, crossing the intersection illegally when he was struck, Powers said.
The vehicle that hit him was westbound on Kester Avenue entering the green-lit intersection at Victory Boulevard, the investigator said.
The motorist, who was released from the scene without citation, stopped to call for help and render assistance.
Abarca was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
