A water main break flooded an office building and parking structure in Irvine Wednesday, prompting an evacuation and road closures.

The 10-inch water main break was reported about 8:05 a.m. in the 12-story building at 2010 Main St., said Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Tony Bommarito.

The flooding mostly affected the area around the high-rise, which included an electrical vault, he said. The building was evacuated because of the potential for an electrical hazard, Bommarito said.

Water and power to the building were shut off.

Irvine police shut down Morse Avenue between Mercantile and Gillette Avenue and Gillette between Main Street and Morse.
