A man killed with a shot to the head in a car-to-car shooting in the Mid-City area of Los Angeles was publicly identified Monday.
Dont-e Hampton, 18, was a Los Angeles resident, coroner’s Investigator Kristy McCracken said.
The shooting occurred in southbound lanes of La Brea Avenue between Venice and Pico boulevards around 1 a.m. Saturday, according to Officer Drake Madison of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Others in the car were not wounded when a vehicle pulled alongside their stopped vehicle and shots were fired, Madison said.
The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, 25 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and 165 pounds with long hair and wearing prescription glasses, driving a white 4-door BMW, last seen southbound on La Brea, police said.
A motive for the shooting was unknown and it was not known if the shooting was gang-related, Madison said.
