The coroner’s office Tuesday released the names of a young woman and teenage girl who were fatally wounded in a shooting in Carson while attending a memorial service.
The shooting about 8:50 p.m. Sunday occurred in the 2300 block of Alvo Avenue, Deputy Tracy Koerner of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau said.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found the woman and child, who each suffered gunshot wounds to the upper body, had already been taken to a hospital, Koerner said.
Information about the suspect and what led to the shootings was not available as the investigation continued, he said.
They were identified as Erin Kayla Lavendar, 19, of Carson, and Dalelaja Francis Denise Hearn, 17, of Fresno, according to Sarah Ardalani of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
No arrests in the case were immediately reported.
