The coroner’s office Tuesday released the name of a Los Angeles resident who was shot in the Westlake area and pronounced dead at a hospital.
Guillermo Romero was 42 years old, coroner’s Lt. Larry Dietz said.
The shooting was reported at 11:40 p.m. Saturday in the 300 block of Witmer Avenue, near Third Street, according to Los Angeles police, who responded to an assault with a deadly weapon call.
When officers arrived, paramedics were trying to save Romero, who was hit in the chest by gunfire, the LAPD reported.
A motive for the shooting was unknown, police said.
