A fast-moving fire tore through an apartment complex in Hemet Friday, leaving a father and his two children dead, the Hemet Fire Department said.

The fire — which also injured at least three more people and displacing several residents — erupted about 1:15 a.m. in the 100 block North Alessandro Street, near Latham Avenue.

New video from the scene showed thick smoke around the complex as Hemet police officers went door-to-door to alert residents to get out of the building.

Media reports said up to three people were hurt in the fire.

The cause was under investigation.
