A 30-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by an SUV in Huntington Beach, authorities said Friday.

Officers were called to the area of Pacific Coast Highway, near Magnolia Street, about 11:10 p.m. Thursday and found the victim unresponsive on the side of the road, according to Sgt. Eric Warken of the Huntington Beach Police Department.

Officers attempted CPR until paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene from major injuries he sustained in the crash, Warken said.

A 2019 Dodge Durango with front-end damage was parked in the street and the 51-year-old driver from Toronto, Canada, stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, Warken said. There were three passengers in the SUV, none of whom were injured.

Anyone who witnessed the deadly crash was asked to call HBPD Accident Investigators A. Turner at 714-536-5670 or D. Kim at 714-536-5666.
