A parolee who allegedly robbed an Eastvale pharmacy and remained on the lam for a week was being held Friday in lieu of $85,000 bail.

The robbery occurred about 11:15 a.m. Jan. 23 at the CareMore Pharmacy in the 13000 block of Limonite Avenue, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

The suspect entered the business, walked toward the counter and demanded money from the register while holding one hand behind his back. He then fled the location holding a black bag containing an undisclosed amount of cash, sheriff’s officials said.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect, who was later identified as Haissam Massalkhy, 40, of Pomona.

He was arrested Thursday in Riverside and was allegedly found to be in possession of clothing that was worn during the robbery, sheriff’s officials said.

Massalkhy was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of second-degree robbery and violating parole.
