Police Friday sought public help to find a stolen-vehicle suspect who led authorities on a chase from Los Angeles to the Commerce Hotel and Casino, where he ran into the business through a side door, then walked out the main entrance and caught a cab.
The chase began about 9:45 p.m. Jan. 31, when Los Angeles Police Department officers saw the man driving a stolen vehicle and tried to stop him, but he sped off.
“The (LAPD) pursuit was terminated when the suspect drove out of the city of Los Angeles,” an LAPD statement said.
“Other law enforcement agencies, who were notified of the suspect’s whereabouts, also pursued the suspect,” police said. “The suspect eluded arrest by stopping at the Commerce Hotel and Casino, where (he) ran into the hotel from a side entrance and caught a cab at the main entrance.”
Police released security video that showed the man walking through the casino. He was described as Hispanic, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing dark clothing.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to contact Detective Juan Campos at 213-833-3713 or via email at 31480@LAPD.online. Tipsters can also call 877-LAPD-247, or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
