Two suspects were jailed Saturday morning after a shooting and short foot chase in Pomona.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired near Third Street and Garey Avenue at 1:45 a.m. where witnesses gave them a description of what the suspects were wearing and where they were last seen, according to Lt. Steve Congalton of the Pomona Police Department.

Two suspects were spotted running toward a vehicle and as officers arrived at the vehicle, one suspect ran off and was detained after a short chase. The driver was also detained and a search of the vehicle turned up a loaded stolen firearm, Congalton said.

“Both subjects may have been involved in a fight before the shooting occurred,” Congalton said.

The suspects, identified as Brian Allen Beltran, 33, and Armando Ochao, 32, both of Fontana, were booked at the Pomona city jail on suspicion of possession of a stolen firearm, negligent discharge of a firearm, drunk in public and bringing drugs into a jail facility, Congalton said.

Anyone with information about this shooting was asked to call the Pomona Police Department at 909-620-2085.
