Authorities sought public help Tuesday to find a hit-and-run driver who fled after a crash in Palmdale that killed a motorcyclist.

Michael Davis, 37, was traveling southbound on 15th Street West when a green Honda Civic going west on Rancho Vista Boulevard ran the red light and slammed into his motorcycle about 12:35 a.m. Saturday, said Deputy Ronald Sneed of the Palmdale sheriff’s station.

The Palmdale resident, who had “close ties to Lancaster Station, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sneed said.

The driver abandoned the Honda and fled on foot. according to Sneed, who said a search of the area failed to locate the suspect.

Although detectives have identified the registered owner of the Honda, attempts to locate the person have been unsuccessful. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Palmdale Station traffic investigators at 661-272-2400.
