One person was killed and two critically injured Tuesday when a vehicle crashed into a concrete divider at high speed, rolled over and hit a tree in Pomona, authorities said.

The crash was reported just before 2 a.m. in the 2000 block of North Garey Avenue, Pomona police Lt. Eddie Vazquez said.

“One passenger was ejected and two other occupants were trapped inside the vehicle that required extrication by L.A. County Fire Department personnel,” Vazquez said. “One occupant has died as a result of his injuries.” The genders of the critical patients were not available.

Police did not know which of the patients was driving or the identities of any of them, he said. “We also do not know if alcohol or drugs were a factor.”

Garey Avenue was shut down in both directions around the 2000 block for the on-scene investigation, Vazquez said.
