One person was killed Wednesday morning when a vehicle overturned in the center divider of the northbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Irwindale prompting a closure of three northbound lanes of the freeway until further notice.
The accident was reported just south of Lower Azusa Road about 2:10 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol.
Debris from the crash was spread across all northbound lanes of the freeway and CHP officers held traffic at the Ramona Boulevard exit.
About 2:30 a.m., the No. 4 lane of the freeway was opened, but the Nos. 1 through 3 lanes remained closed, the CHP said.
Details of what led up to the crash and the age, gender and name of the victim were not immediately disclosed.
