An 18-year-old woman from Lakewood who is bipolar and has the mental capacity of a 10-year-old has gone missing and sheriff’s detectives asked for public help Sunday to find her.
Deanna Akiyama was last seen at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 5000 block of Coke Avenue and is possibly heading to Downey, according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Akiyama is black, 5 feet, 3 inches tall and weighs 135 pounds with brown eyes and rolled-up black hair. She was last seen wearing a white shirt and blue pants, Crowder said.
Anyone with information about Akiyama’s whereabouts was asked to call the Sheriff’s Missing Persons Unit at 323-890-5500 or 911. Tipsters can also call Crime Stoppers at 800-222-8477.
