A boy, believed to be 10 years old, holed up in a shed behind a Southcrest home Thursday, prompting a standoff with police that stretched through the late morning.
Dispatchers received a call around 9:15 a.m. about a boy who had reportedly armed himself with a hammer at a home in the 4000 block of Boston Avenue, east of South 40th Street, said San Diego police Officer Scott Lockwood.
Officers responded to the scene to talk to the boy — believed to be 10 years old — but found that he had gone to a shed in the backyard and refused to come out, Lockwood said.
10News reported that the boy was barricaded in the structure with a shotgun.
No further details were immediately available. The standoff was ongoing.
