Authorities Friday sought public help to find a woman suspected of stealing a woman’s wallet and engagement ring from the victim’s purse in a Sherman Oaks restaurant.
Security images were circulated of the suspect, who committed the crime in the undisclosed restaurant on Jan. 14.
“The female suspect subsequently used the victim’s credit cards from the wallet to make purchases at three different retail locations in Van Nuys, Northridge and Pacoima,” a police statement said.
“In addition to the credit cards, the wallet also contained her family’s diamond engagement ring, which was also stolen,” police said. “The suspect entered the restaurant while the victim was dining with other family members. The suspect sat behind the victim and reached in to her purse, which was hanging from the back of her chair and removed the wallet.”
The suspect was described as black, 25-35 years of age, with the lower half of her hair dyed pink. She wore dark clothing.
Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Detective Justin Thomas at 818-374-0055; 877-LAPD-247; or Crime Stoppers at 800-222-TIPS.
