A man was killed Wednesday in an apparently gang-related shooting in East Los Angeles and the shooter was on the loose, authorities said.
Detectives responded to the 900 block of South Sunol Drive, just east of Downey Road, at 3 a.m. and found the victim, in his 20s, who was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available. The name of the victim was not disclosed.
“It appeared the victim was riding a bicycle along the sidewalk when an unknown person shot him,” a sheriff’s statement said. “The shooting is being investigated as a gang-related murder.”
Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
