A 71-year-old man who was reported missing had been admitted to a hospital, Long Beach police said Thursday.
Hospital staff notified the Long Beach Police Department Thursday that Michael Charles Polizzi, who had last been seen Feb. 22, had been in a hospital since at least Feb. 25, the day he was reported missing.
Polizzi was reunited with his family Thursday. They were concerned for his health, considering he has a medical condition that causes him to become disoriented. Polizzi requires 24-hour care, as he has difficulty walking and breathing.
Polizzi had last been seen using his wheelchair for balance near East Artesia Boulevard and Obispo Avenue Feb. 22 about 2:40 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol and the Long Beach Police Department.
“While he was in the hospital he had given the hospital a different name,” said Emily Garcia of the Long Beach Police Department. “Today he gave a correct name. That’s when (hospital staff) located him as a missing person.”
