A 25-year-old man suspected of stealing beer from a CVS Pharmacy in Norwalk and assaulting one of its clerks Tuesday was arrested.
The Norwalk resident attempted to steal two 30-packs of beer from the store at 11623 Rosecrans Ave., near Pioneer Boulevard and the Norwalk Town Square, according to Sgt. Rodney Gutierrez of the sheriff’s Norwalk Station.
The clerk, who recognized the man from a previous theft at the store, confronted him, Gutierrez said.
“The clerk told him `If you’re not going to pay, you have to leave,”’ Gutierrez said.
The man became angry and threw one of the 30-packs of beer at the clerk, Gutierrez said.
The clerk sustained a contusion to a leg. Deputies arrived on the scene shortly after and arrested the man at 3 p.m.
The suspect’s name was not disclosed.
