The Los Angeles Police Department Thursday confirmed that a member of the agency’s senior staff tested positive for coronavirus, the second person with the agency to be confirmed with the illness.
According to the LAPD, the senior staffer “exhibited flu-like symptoms last week and is resting at home. The employee is expected to make a full recovery.”
“All work spaces associated with that individual are currently being disinfected and that work should be completed by the end of the day,” according to the department.
The LAPD did not specify where the staffer worked, but the Los Angeles Times reported that the agency’s South Bureau and 77th Division facilities were being disinfected.
“This is a sobering reminder that anyone is susceptible to this virus,” according to the LAPD. “The LAPD encourages all Angelenos to follow local and state guidelines of hygiene and social distancing.”
The department on Sunday confirmed that a supervisor at the Pacific Division had tested positive.
