A Santa Monica police SUV flipped over Thursday afternoon in a collision with another police vehicle, but it was unclear whether any officers were seriously hurt.
A Santa Monica Police Department dispatcher confirmed that two SMPD vehicles were involved in the crash at 3:05 p.m. in the 1900 block of Lincoln Boulevard, but she had no information on injuries or other details.
Video posted to social media app Citizen showed an overturned police SUV surrounded by a tow truck and other police vehicles.
M. Singh, an employee at a nearby 7-Eleven store, said the noise of the crash was startling.
“We just heard the bang and then we saw the car was flipping over,” he told City News Service. “They’re all OK, thank God.”
The Santa Monica Mirror reported that an unmarked captain’s car and a squad car were involved in the crash and that there were injuries, but the number and severity was unknown.
