A 42-year-old Santa Ana man suspected of driving while intoxicated was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Garden Grove, police said Sunday.
The crash occurred about 9:50 p.m. Saturday near Euclid and Main streets, where the man, the lone occupant inside the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Garden Grove Police Lt. Carl Whitney.
The motorist was going southbound on Euclid Street and failed to negotiate the curve in the road at the intersection. He crashed at the curb line hitting a city street sign, multiple trees and a concrete fixture, Whitney said.
Paramedics dispatched to the location pronounced him dead at the scene and alcohol was believed to be a factor in the crash, he said.
“The Orange County Coroner responded to the collision scene and will conduct an autopsy later in the week to determine the cause of death,” Whitney said.
