A man police described as a known gang member on probation was arrested in Pomona Friday, suspected of gun and drug possession, along with two women.

Officers spotted Fernando Contreras, 43, walking near his home in the 800 block of West Eighth Street, near South White Avenue, according to Sgt. M. Medellin of the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force.

Contreras ran from officers and locked them out of his home while he allegedly hid items he was prohibited from possessing.

Contreras, who had a warrant out for his arrest, surrendered to police and was arrested, Medellin said.

Officers found a rifle, shotgun and three handguns in his home, all of which he is prohibited from owning because he is a convicted felon. They also found two ounces of methamphetamine allegedly packaged for sales, Medellin said.

Two others at the scene, Monique Pena, 36, of Rancho Cucamonga, and Monique Lopez, 29, of San Bernardino, were also arrested, according to Medellin.

Contreras was booked for multiple narcotic and firearm charges, as well as probation violation and gang enhancement, Pena for possession of methamphetamine and Lopez for violating her probation.
