The attack happened about 10:30 p.m. Monday in the 3800 block of Everest Avenue, near Magnolia Avenue, according to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback.
He said the assailant fired an undisclosed number of rounds, striking the victim in the upper body. Patrol officers and paramedics reached the location within a few minutes, but the Riverside resident, who has yet to be publicly identified, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
