A vandal believed to be in his 20s smashed the window of a Lynwood doughnut shop with a hammer, causing at least $1,300 in damage, authorities said Tuesday.

Surveillance video caught the vandal at about 3:30 a.m. Monday smashing the window at the shop in the 11300 block of Long Beach Boulevard, near the Glenn Anderson (105) Freeway, according to Deputy Juanita Navarro-Suarez of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Navarro-Suarez called the amount of damage “a heavy blow” to the family-owned business, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic and economic crisis.

The suspect was wearing a white shirt, light blue denim shorts, a blue denim jacket, novelty socks and had a dark backpack, Navarro-Suarez said.

He walked away northbound on Long Beach Boulevard, Navarro-Suarez said.

Detectives encouraged anyone with information about the suspect to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Century Station at 323-568-4800. Those wishing to report anonymously can call 800-222-TIPS.
