Four shootings in the South Los Angeles area Wednesday left two men dead and two people injured, but it was not immediately clear if the attacks were related.
The first shooting occurred about 12:40 p.m. near the intersection of Hoover and 58th streets, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Two male suspects drove up alongside the victim and fired multiple rounds at him in his car before fleeing, Lopez said.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to Lopez.
Officers said they believe the shooting was gang-related.
The second shooting in the area, near 111th Street and Western Avenue, left one man dead at 2:53 p.m., according to Deputy Marvin Crowder of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Information Bureau. No suspects were in custody.
About a mile away, near 109th Street and Vermont Avenue, one person was injured in a shooting about 3:45 p.m., Crowder said, but further information was not immediately available.
The last shooting occurred about 4:35 p.m. in the 4300 block of La Salle Avenue, between Normandie and Western avenues and Vernon Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, according to Lopez.
A woman was shot while standing with a man, who police think may have been the intended target.
She is recovering at a hospital and her vital signs were reported to be stable. The incident does not appear to be gang-related, Lopez said.
