The coroner’s office Saturday released the names of two men killed in separate South Los Angeles shootings.
Salvador Vaquero, 38, was fatally wounded in the first shooting, about 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, the coroner’s office said. It occurred near the intersection of Hoover and 58th streets, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the Los Angeles Police Department.
Two male suspects in a vehicle drove up alongside Vaquero’s car and fired multiple rounds at him, then fled, Lopez said.
Vaquero was pronounced dead at a hospital, he said. Officers said they believed the shooting was gang-related.
Charles Lewis III was identified as the victim of the second shooting in the area, reported at 2:53 p.m. Wednesday near 111th Street and Western Avenue, the coroner’s office said.
Lewis was believed to have been homeless.
