A man and his girlfriend were arrested in San Jacinto before dawn Tuesday for allegedly opening fire on a home where a fight erupted between the suspects and residents.
Isaiah Dante Knight, 28, and Elizabeth Ann Perkins, 36, both of Colorado Springs, Colorado were each booked into the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, reckless discharge of a firearm and child endangerment.
Knight was additionally booked for alleged resisting arrest.
Both are being held in lieu of $35,000 bail.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. James Burton, about 1 a.m., Knight and Perkins were visiting with the occupants of a residence in the 200 block of Placentia Street, near Terrazzo Park, when an argument broke out between the suspects and victims.
Burton said the argument “escalated into a physical fight,” at which point “Knight and Perkins retrieved a firearm from their vehicle and fired several rounds toward the residence.”
A child was apparently inside the house, and patrol deputies reached the location within a few minutes of the victims’ calls to 911, according to Burton.
Burton said Perkins was located in the driveway and taken into custody without a struggle. Bullet casings were also found there and seized.
A sheriff’s SWAT unit was summoned because Knight had ducked back into the home and refused to surrender peacefully, Burton alleged.
A short time later, Knight was forcibly taken into custody, Burton said.
No one was injured.
