A 64-year-old jogger was struck and killed Wednesday on a west Riverside street when a motorist ran into him from behind, police reported.
According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, Robert Stockton of Riverside was jogging westbound on Victoria Avenue, between Horace Street and Lincoln Avenue, when he was struck about 10:55 a.m. by a 2014 Dodge minivan.
The 65-year-old Riverside woman at the wheel stopped and called 911, he said.
Riverside Fire Department paramedics arrived within a few minutes and pronounced Stockton dead at the scene, according to Railsback.
“At this time, it does not appear alcohol or drugs are a factor in this collision,” the police spokesman said.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information was asked to contact traffic detectives at 951-826-8720.
