An 18-year-old unlicensed driver suspected of carrying a stolen loaded semiautomatic pistol while driving in Moreno Valley was out of custody Thursday.
Dayvinta Elijah Robinson of Moreno Valley was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Jail in Riverside Wednesday on suspicion of illegal possession of a firearm, being an underage resident in possession of a gun, transporting a loaded firearm in a car without a permit, receiving stolen property and operating a motor vehicle without a driver’s license.
Robinson posted a $10,000 bond and was released from jail hours later.
According to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Jose Ayala, deputies spotted the suspect in the 22800 block of Allies Place, near Bay Avenue, about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and stopped him based on suspicions he was possibly involved in gang activity.
Robinson was immediately detained for driving with no license, and a search of the vehicle revealed the stolen gun — a .40-caliber pistol, Ayala alleged.
The suspect has no documented prior adult felony convictions in Riverside County.
