The Costa Mesa (55) Freeway at Del Mar Avenue was shut down in both directions Wednesday when a woman dialed 911 to say she was armed and was holding up signs indicating her father was a serial killer, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The northbound and southbound lanes were shut down after the woman called authorities about noon, holding up signs indicating her father was the “I-45 Texas killer,” and reporting she was armed, CHP Officer Erin Winstead said.
The woman had parked her car in the center divider and had the sign on the back of the vehicle, Winstead said.
Police were negotiating with her to surrender.
