A juvenile bystander was hospitalized Thursday with a non-life-threatening injury he suffered in a shooting in Glendale that left a man dead, while the shooter remained at large.

Police responded to a “shots fired” call near San Fernando Road and Chevy Chase Drive around 9 p.m. Wednesday and found the man down in the street, south of the intersection, according to Sgt. Christian Hauptmann of the Glendale Police Department.

Officers initiated CPR on the wounded man and he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Hauptmann said.

While investigating the shooting, police received a second call that a boy was taken to a hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, he said. Broadcast reports said the boy was 10 years old, but Hauptmann could not confirm the age.

The boy is believed to have been a bystander.

The suspect, who was wearing dark clothing, fled in a sedan, according to Hauptmann.

The names of the victims were not disclosed.
