A man was fatally shot near the Compton/Woodley Airport and a suspect was at large Friday morning.

Sheriff’s deputies from the Compton Station responded about 6 p.m. Thursday to a person-down call in the 1000 block of West Alondra Boulevard, near South Wilmington Avenue, and found the victim suffering from at least two gunshot wounds to the upper body, according to Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Deputy Grace Medrano said.
