Police harmlessly shot at a man who had been barricaded inside a North Hollywood apartment after the suspect fired a crossbow at them, causing a minor injury to one officer, authorities said Monday.
At about 10:30 p.m. Sunday, SWAT officers were evacuating the building in the 5100 block of Bakman Avenue when “the suspect exited and fired a crossbow at officers,” according to Lt. Chris Ramirez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Media Relations Section. One officer was wounded.
Officers fired their weapons at the suspect but he was not wounded, Ramirez said. Officers took the man into custody.
The officer was treated at a hospital for his wound and released, the lieutenant said.
The initial call of assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired was reported about 9:35 p.m. Sunday, according to the LAPD’s North Hollywood Station.
