A suspected marijuana grower accused of stealing more than $22,000 worth of electricity to illegally cultivate marijuana plants in a Temescal Valley home was out of custody Friday after posting no bail.
Hin Hing Lin, 53, was arrested Thursday about 1 p.m. at a home in the 11000 block of Flicker Cove that had allegedly been illegally converted for indoor cannabis cultivation, according to Riverside County sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Reese.
Lin was taken into custody and booked Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on suspicion of felony utility theft and illegal marijuana cultivation, sheriff’s officials said.
Deputies served a search warrant at the home stemming from a call in May about suspected marijuana growing in the area, where about 1,000 plants were found growing inside.
Riverside County Code Enforcement personnel responded and issued a cease-and-desist letter due to illegal construction found in the home, sheriff’s officials said.
Southern California Edison officials located an makeshift bypass to the home’s electrical system that was allegedly used to steal an estimated $22,201.30 in electricity for the grow.
Anyone with additional information about the grow is urged to call Deputy Yu at the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station at 951-245-3300.
