A suspect was in custody Monday for allegedly killing a man with a pellet gun in the south Los Angeles area.
The shooting occurred about 9:40 p.m. Sunday in the 200 block of East 76th Place, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Josue Zepeda, 32, of Los Angeles died at the scene, according to the coroner’s office and the LAPD.
The suspect, a man in his 40s, was arrested at the scene, police said. His name was not immediately released.
“A preliminary investigation revealed a suspect … approached the victim on foot and fired one shot from a pellet gun, striking the victim,” according to an LAPD statement.
A motive for the crime was not released, but police said it was not believed to be gang-related.
