A 24-year-old man was arrested Saturday morning during a traffic stop in Pomona for possession of a loaded and concealed firearm.
Officers with the Pomona Police Department’s Major Crimes Task Force responded to a call of shots fired in the area of 1700 Bolivar Street at 12:15 a.m. and also received reports of vehicles leaving the area where the gunshots had been heard, according to Sgt. M. Medellin.
A dark-colored vehicle was seen speeding away from the area of the shooting and officers stopped the vehicle near Grand and White avenues, Medellin said.
The driver, identified as Jonathan Delvalle Cazares of Ontario, admitted to leaving a party in the area and that he was carrying a loaded 9mm gun, Medellin said.
An investigation determined he was not connected to the initial shots fired call, but was arrested and booked at the Pomona city jail for illegal possession of a loaded and concealed gun, Medellin said.
