Authorities Monday sought witnesses to a collision that killed a 17-year-old bicyclist in Monterey Park.

Ernesto Manzano Jr. was riding his bike against traffic and down a hill near Crest Vista Drive and Windover Way about 6:40 p.m. Friday when he collided “head-on” with a car traveling northbound, according to the Monterey Park Police Department.

Manzano, who lived in Los Angeles, died at the scene, police said.

The driver stopped and is cooperating with investigators, who do not believe that drugs or alcohol was a factor, according to police.
