Firefighters were working to extinguish a slow-moving, half-acre brush fire Tuesday near some downed power lines in the Beverly Crest area.
The fire was reported near 80 Beverly Park Lane at about 8 a.m., according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
After about an hour, firefighters had made “good progress” in containing the fire, the LAFD reported.
“Access to a portion of the fire is limited due to wires down,” said Margaret Stewart of the LAFD. “Helicopters are unable to make a water drop in the spot because it is directly over the wires which may still be energized.”
Los Angeles Department of Water and Power crews were sent to the scene.
A security issue developed when a drone was seen flying in the operational area, which affected emergency operations, Stewart said. Los Angeles police were notified.
