A registered sex offender was arrested in connection with a Hollywood rape, authorities said Tuesday.
The rape, described as “brutal,” occurred July 17 and was reported to the Los Angeles Police Department and the subsequent investigation led to the arrest of 51-year-old Joaquin Rivas, police said.
Rivas was held in lieu of $10 million bail, police said.
A check of the Megan’s Law website showed Rivas was convicted in 2006 of sexual penetration with a foreign object by force or fear and released in 2009.
Rivas’ last known address was in the 9900 block of Independence Avenue in Chatsworth, the database said.
No further details were available about the alleged rape in Hollywood.
