A 35-year-old man was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting two girls in Santa Ana a decade ago, when they were 5 and 7 years old.
Benjamin Perezpena was family friend of the girls, who recently came forward to report what allegedly happened to them as children, said Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna. The alleged victims were molested in September 2009 and March 2008, he said.
Perezpena is charged with two counts of oral copulation or sexual penetration with a child 10 years or younger and two counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a minor younger than 14, all felonies.
The defendant, who is being held is lieu of $1 million bail, had his arraignment rescheduled for Aug. 5 in the jail courtroom in Santa Ana.
