A man was killed in a shooting in El Monte Friday morning and the gunman was at large.

Deputies responded to the 3400 block of Durfee Avenue, near Garvey Avenue and the San Bernardino (10) Freeway, about 3:10 a.m., where they found the victim, who was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, according to Deputy James Nagao of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A detailed description of the shooter and motive for the shooting were not immediately available.

The name of the victim was not disclosed.

Anyone with information about this deadly shooting was asked to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500.
